About us

Your hosts will be Karen and Gary.  We were originally from the UK but moved to Spain in March 2009.  We came here initially with my work.  I was (now retired) an automation and software engineer working within the food industry.  I spent the first four years working for a Spanish company and was lucky enough to travel extensively throughout Spain and north Africa, exploring these different places as I travelled around working.  It wasn’t too long before I realised that we were living in my opinion. One of the most beautiful parts of Spain and that is Catalonia.

My wife Karen has mainly worked in finance throughout her working life, she gave up her job within the fire brigade finance department to follow me, and our dream to relocate to Spain. She spent the first year or so adjusting to our new life in Spain, learning the language, which is not so easy as you get older, believe me. Meeting new friends and making new contacts.  Through networking and new friendships, she managed to find a job in Barcelona working within the cruise line industry. She worked very hard at the job and travelled to Barcelona every day.  She now continues to do the same job but now works from our own home office.
